Message don't appear to outsell anything unless it is priced much much higher above them, with the exception being the R8 (which I thought I recall years back reading they are hand-built for a substantial part of the production process?). In these cases the cars are limited to even smaller production numbers anyway.

The GTRs sit in a weird pricepoint where they offer unparalleled value in terms of performance/price ratio, but more people opt for less performance and clearly place more value in other areas....the 911, F-type's, Maserati's, all outsell the GTR by huge margins. Hell I know people here locally who went with M4's and Z06's over the GTR just because they felt it was a "better deal", saving 20-40%, still getting a ridiculously fast car, and being able to customize it to their liking rather than exactly the same as everyone else's. Raw performance isn't the only value-adder.

2014 F-type----4k+ sold
2014 Gran Turismos----3.5k sold
2014 911----10k+ sold

This is the crux of the issue, how are these cars outselling the GTR when the GTR on paper is a better car in every quantifiable way at a price either equal to or tens of thousands of dollars less?
to compound this, consumers are buying cars that MSRP for tens of thousands less than the GTR AND are lesser performers, so what gives?

Is (Porsche) prestige alone going to outsell a "superior" sportscar by 6, 8, & 10 fold year in year out?

There is certainly more to it than that. Nissan does a shitty job marketing their cars....I'm not talking about advertising, I mean how they sell them and who they target them to. They simply do not understand what is expected by the consumer once you put a 6 figure price on a car and therefore they obviously dont deliver it, otherwise they would not be getting left behind by vehicles priced above and below them.
